Extended school


NurseryWelcome to Buckingham Primary School's information on Extended Provision, offering flexible 'Wrap around Care' during term time and the holidays for children aged 2 years to 12 years. This high quality child care begins at 8am daily in the Nursery and Early Morning Club. Full Day Care for 2 - 12 year olds is available until 6pm. ACTIV-8, the name given to our After School Club, provides child care for all children from 2 years of age. In addition parents can book into lunchtime or part time provision at our Nursery for children under statutory school age.

Playing in the house


The Extended School offers high quality child care and education for early years children. The excellent nursery resources are in a stimulating and safe environment and include outdoor provision and access to four additional rooms: ICT, PE and Soft Play and Role Play.


The majority of staff in the Extended setting are fully trained or currently training for the NVQ level 3 qualification. The ratio of adults to children is 1:4 for two year olds and 1:8 for 3-7 year olds. Regular planning meetings ensure the highest quality provision for all the children.

Rest for tired under fives


When needed, all the children are able to go to a quiet area for a nap. Lots of stories are read to the children to allow them some calm time.

Staff and Standards

The ratio of adults to children is 1:4 for two year olds and 1:8 for 3-7 year olds. A Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Clare Milne is in charge of the Extended School and is based in Nursery. Regular planning meetings ensure the highest quality provision for all the children.

Mrs Penny Roach is the Senior Leader in Activ-8 and Holiday Clubs. Mrs Joyce Atkins is the full time Administration officer. Please feel free to speak to any member of staff regarding the provision available for your child.

Our Extended Schools meets all 14 National Standards for high quality child care and staff would be happy to talk to parents about any aspect of this. Parents and Carers are our partners in meeting the needs of the children in our care. We value and welcome your contribution at all times.

Interested parents are invited to visit the Nursery or ACTIV-8 club with their child and should phone the school office to make an appointment with Joyce Atkins, the Extended School's Administrator.
