Welcome to year 2!

Meet the teachers...

Hello everybody we are the new teachers for Year 2 - Mrs Gadd (Chestnuts) and Mrs Burman (Oaks). 

We are both looking forward to sharing a large variety of books with the children over the year as well as completing many enjoyable topics.

 Thank you for helping to support your child with his or her homework.

Homework will set to consolidate learning as necessary but initially we ask that importance is placed on home reading and learning spellings.

Home reading

The more the better! Reading records need to be in school every day for recording school reading; teachers collect them in and add comments on a Friday.  Entries can be from a range of texts read, not just your child’s school reading book.  Please please find the time to read with your child every day...it will help them progress more than you could imagine!!

Multiplication tables

By the end of Year 2 all the children should know their 2, 5, 10, 3 and 4 times tables....so get practising on the way to school!

Spellings

Spellings are sent home at the beginning of each period for the term.  Please support your child in learning their spellings each week for our quiz on a Friday!  You can also find a link to the year 2 key words on the Year 2 page to practise as an extra!
