Information for parents

Thank you for helping to support your child with his or her homework.

Homework we set each week

Literacy, numeracy or project based task

Handed out on a Monday, due in the following Monday

Home reading

The more the better! A team point is given out for three home readings recorded in the reading record. Reading records need to be in school every day for recording school reading; teachers collect them in and add comments on a Friday. A guide to questions to ask your child can be found inside the reading record. Entries can be from a range of texts read, not just your child’s school reading book.

Multiplication tables

We have a weekly multiplication tables quiz; children work through the tables at their own pace.

Bronze award – can count in sequence in the table, e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8

Silver award – can recall multiplication facts related to table

Gold award – can recall multiplication and division facts related to table.

Spellings

Spellings are sent home in the form of a ‘look, say, cover, write and check’ sheet. We will be moving into spelling groups from next week.

Family Week

Once each half-term we will have family week which, at many parents' request, means will will not set the main piece of homework. This gives families chance to do something together instead of working on homework.
