Year 3

Welcome to the Year 3 Page!

Meet the Teachers

Mrs Powell and Mrs Milne

Mrs Stocker:
I am really looking forward to teaching Year 3 again this year. This will be my third year here at BPS, my first year was with Year 6. Before this I taught in Oxford. I have two children, Ben (13) and Gaby (11) who go to local schools.
I enjoy reading a lot and looking after my 3 chickens (Flo, Tilly and Polly)!

Miss Adamson:

I am very excited about starting my first teaching job here at BPS. Some of you will already know me from Year 2 where I taught as a student. I have a roan horse called Bailey who is 20 years old! I look after him every day and try to ride at weekends in the woods.

Information for parents

Thank you for helping to support your child with his or her homework.

Homework we set each week

Literacy, numeracy or project based task

Handed out on a Monday, due in the following Monday.

Home reading

The more the better! A team point is given out for three home readings recorded in the reading record. Reading records need to be in school every day for recording school reading; teachers collect them in and add comments on a Friday. A guide to questions to ask your child can be found inside the reading record. Entries can be from a range of texts read, not just your child’s school reading book.

Multiplication tables

We have a weekly multiplication tables quiz; children work through the tables at their own pace.

Bronze award – can count in sequence in the table, e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8

Silver award – can recall multiplication facts related to table

Gold award – can recall multiplication and division facts related to table.

We will be moving into numeracy sets from next week.

Spellings

Spellings are sent home in the form of a ‘look, say, cover, write and check’ sheet.
